Fado music singers – from faith and to hope

Sadness, loss, a sense of longing – who couldn’t identify with these strong emotions at various points in their life? Fado, the musical genre that originated in Portugal in the 19th century, taps into a sense of melancholy like probably no other and has firmly established itself on the world music scene. Literally meaning ‘destiny’ or ‘fate’, Fado is also associated with the Portuguese word ‘saudade’ or longing.

Artists like Amália Rodrigues, Dulce Pontes, Carlos do Carmo, Mariza, Mafalda Arnauth, António Zambujo, Ana Moura, Camané, Carminho, Cesária Évora and others are world famous for this distinct style of music that is usally accompanied by a classical or Portuguese guitar.

What is Zen for Marcomé ?

Zen is being in the now, connected to the glorious energy that inhabits all of my cells that keep me alive, day after day. It’s a state of inner peace that I can reach when my mind is at rest and my heart is openly connected to my whole body & soul, making me feel one with the infinity of life, of love.

“Roxanne”, “Can’t Stand Losing You”, “So Lonely”, “Message in a Bottle”, “Every Breath You Take” – when contemplating Sting’s career, invariably his hit songs with The Police come to mind, the band he had his big breakthrough with as a singer in the last ‘70s and early ‘80s.
