Music is meant to uplift and to accompany us! I love this feature on iTunes that allows you to create a mix of your favorite songs from artists of your choice.  In my New Age Music Classics: iMix 2, I selected 15 tracks, including songs by Jean Michel Jarre, Vangelis and Brian Eno, all of whom influenced me as an artist.

Listen to “Echoes” by Vangelis, “Deep Blue Day,” by Brian Eno, and Jean Michel Jarre’s “Oxygene: Pt.4”  There are treasures from other artists, as well.  Check them out!

These singer songwriters inspired me to pursue and explore the keyboard’s virtual environment.  I would even say that they triggered my desire to do music!  Hope you’ll rediscover something in there.

Did you know you are free to purchase any of the selected songs, or buy the entire iTunes mix?  Also, don’t forget to make your vote count!  Rate my selections, and check out the rest of my iMixes.

Musically yours, Marcomé

Ambient Music To Enrich Your Life

Of the music in my home record collection, I find myself frequently listening to ambient music to relax, inspire or simply enrich my life.  Each song carries with it unique memories and allow for a new sense of freedom in the present.  Each time I listen, I am moved in new ways.  To slow down.  To listen.  To simply be.

I listen to ambient music to create a background to my inner world. It sometimes need to be songs that are musically airy and open, without too much lyrics in order to allow my inner voice to arise. To accompany a dinner with friends, ambient music rhythms and sounds are sometimes a more neutral ground!

Do you know Brian Eno, Boards of Canada, Robert Rich, Aphex Twins? Outside of its creators and fans, “ambient music” is often thought of as mere background music (for example, meditation or yoga).  In a worst case scenario, some people may bring to mind elevator Muzak when considering the meaning of ambient music.  Nothing could be farther from the truth. Ambient music is in the now but of course, it’s all a matter of tastes.

So, what is ambient music?
