Marcomé – Ethereal New Age Vocal Artist | Biography & Music

Marcomé (pronounced Mar-ko-may) is an ethereal new age vocal artist from Québec, born to French-Canadian parents, known for her atmospheric soundscapes, layered wordless vocals and immersive emotional expression.
Her music has often been compared to that of Enya, while remaining rooted in her own distinctive approach to vocal layering, invented syllables and wordless expression.
Through her signature technique called wordpainting, Marcomé uses invented syllables, vocal textures and flowing melodies to express emotion beyond language.
Musical Style
At the heart of Marcomé’s music is a deeply personal approach to the human voice as both sound and emotion. Rather than relying on conventional lyrics, she shapes meaning through layered vocal textures, invented syllables and melodic movement — a process she describes as wordpainting.
Her music moves between ethereal atmospheres, ambient spaces and subtle world influences, creating pieces that feel intimate, cinematic and open to personal interpretation. The result is less a song form in the traditional sense than an inner landscape, where the voice carries feeling beyond words.
This distinctive approach gives Marcomé’s work its contemplative quality: immersive, spacious and emotionally resonant, while remaining rooted in the expressive power of the voice itself.
Career Highlights
Marcomé began working professionally in sound in the mid-1980s, first through mobile recording systems for live events and performances. This hands-on experience led her into television production, studio work, post-production and mastering, where she developed a rare dual identity: both artist and audio craftswoman.
Her professional path unfolded within the Montréal recording and broadcast environment, where she gained practical experience working alongside producers, engineers and musicians in both studio and live settings.
This long immersion in both art and sound engineering helped shape the sonic refinement, cinematic depth and atmospheric precision that define Marcomé’s music today.
Selected Performances and Appearances
Over the years, Marcomé has also made selected appearances in notable live events in Québec. These include Carte blanche à Bruno Pelletier at the Francofolies de Montréal and the opening of Laurent Paquin’s Juste pour rire gala at Théâtre Saint-Denis in 2010.
Music in Television and International Productions
Marcomé’s music has been featured in television productions and documentaries internationally, including broadcasts in Japan and South Korea.
In 2024, her composition “Breathe” was licensed for the American television series Abbott Elementary, produced by Warner Bros. Television.
These international uses reflect the distinctive atmospheric quality of Marcomé’s music, often chosen for its ability to create emotional depth and immersive sound environments in visual storytelling.

Ethereal New Age Female Vocals for Deep Calm (Enya Style) | Marcomé Essentials
Ethereal New Age Vocal Music
Ethereal vocal music creates a space for personal interpretation and emotional connection. Without strict lyrical meaning, listeners can project their own feelings into the sound. This is why this style of music is often associated with relaxation, meditation and deep listening.
In Marcomé’s work, that experience is shaped not only by the voice itself, but by a refined sense of sonic space. Her productions are crafted with a hi-fi sensibility, where layered vocals, depth, texture and openness become part of the emotional language. Sometimes described as a kind of sound sculptress, she builds immersive mixes that feel spacious, detailed and alive.
Through layered vocals, atmospheric production and her distinctive wordpainting technique, Marcomé continues to explore the expressive power of the human voice in contemporary ethereal vocal music, contributing to the evolution of New Age and ambient vocal music.
